I don’t have much to say about Lisa and Keith – I think the photos say it all! They are such a fun, sweet couple and we had a wonderful time for their engagement photos. Can you believe that I had never been to the Arnold Arboretum before? I can’t! I’m so glad that Lisa suggested it for their photos. And I gave her a couple of ideas for fun props to bring, and she completely ran with it! Pinwheels, bubbles, streamers, steampunk goggles! Awesome. Also, you might notice I toyed around with the post-processing of some of these images, with a vintage/golden look.

Well, these are two of my favorite people! When I was visiting my good friend Heidi earlier this month I was able to talk her into getting her engagement photos done. They were a little hesitant at first – neither is very comfortable in front of the camera… But they smile and laugh so easily around each other, I think they are absolutely adorable! And glad I was there during the height of the cherry blossom season… Tom and I are so looking forward to the wedding in Savannah later this year. Can’t wait!
Share on FacebookWell, Andrea and Jamie were the lucky winners of the facebook contest I had at Valentine’s day. We had to re-schedule to this past weekend, since the original weekend we planned for was so rainy and cold… Little did we know that we would choose the most beautiful day of the spring so far! And all of the tourists and everyone else in Boston agreed, because they were ALL there, I swear. Andrea and Jamie made great models (can’t believe you think you’re not photogenic – seriously!), and were thankfully fine with smooching in public :) and also were entertained (at least slightly?) by Tom’s (my husband) silliness. Some of these photos are his, too.
Looking forward to the wedding this fall!

March 23, 2010I was so thrilled to be out shooting finally this weekend! My first wedding on Saturday (sneak peek soon!), and then Kerry and Scott’s engagement photos on Sunday morning. We unfortunately didn’t have the balmy weather of Saturday, and getting closer to the water in Newburyport it got even more chilly. Kerry and Scott were up for it, though, and we all happily explored Newburyport together. They brought their adorable daughter along for some shots too (seriously, she is soooo cute! she kept getting up to show me her ballet dance moves).
Share on FacebookDuring the past six years I’ve lived and been photographing north of Boston, I’ve come across so many beautiful locations for portrait sessions. And many times when someone books me for an engagement or other lifestyle shoot, they’re at a loss as to where to go. I’m more than happy to suggest places, but I thought a little photo essay might help to make a decision.
If none of these places seem quite right to you, sometimes the best place to go is someplace you’re comfortable – if it’s an engagement session, how about the place where you got engaged? Or met? If you’re looking for family photos, I’m more than happy to come to your home (especially if you have a baby – I know it’s easier to keep them in a comfortable environment they’re used to) and set up a mini-studio. Or just walking around your local town or neighborhood is fun.
But these are some of my favorite places… Some of which I’ve never shot a portrait session at, but I’ve visited… Hey, even if you’re not interested in getting your photos taken, these are just great places to visit north of Boston, period. There are so many more I could list, but I don’t have photos yet. So, maybe there will be a part 2!

Fisherman’s Beach, Swampscott, MA

Misery Island, Salem Harbor, MA

Minuteman National Historic Park, Concord, MA

Castle Hill Crane Estate, Ipswich, MA

March 2, 2010Our friends Jose and Jyll have been planning their wedding for next February at the Spencer Country Inn, which Tom and I will be photographing… They wanted to get some engagement photos done, and check out what the light would be like at around the time of their wedding next year. We all had a very enjoyable lunch there, and then braved the cold for the photos… Thanks Jose and Jyll for a fun afternoon!
